Carriage Way is located in the heart of the historic district. Carriage Way is a vernacular structure with Victorian features. The building was constructed between 1883 and 1885. In 1984 the structure was extensively restored to its original grandeur, fulfilling a dream of creating Carriage Way.

Accommodations include nine guest rooms located on the first and second floor of the main inn, and two rooms in our "Cottage". Guest rooms are air conditioned and have a private bath with claw foot tub or shower and are furnished with antiques and reproductions including brass, canopy, or four poster beds.

We are just two blocks from one of the loveliest natural harbors, the Vinoy Basin and the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, Straub, and Vinoy Parks - the perfect place to see the sunrise, take a run, rollerblade, bike or walk.

The Veranda Bed and Breakfast

The buildings that comprise The Veranda Bed & Breakfast were built in 1913 by Luther Black and used as a winter retreat from the Northeast for he and his wife.

The buildings were originally renovated in the fall of 1993 and The Veranda Bed & Breakfast opened in the spring of 1994.

The property consists of 5 buildings and has 11 rooms ranging in size from full studio to king suite. The Key Lime Cottage features 2 queen bedrooms/2 full baths, one with garden tub, a kitchen and living room. The Bridal Suite features a king four-poster bed and bath with clawfoot tub.

All rooms have private entrance, cable TV and phone with voice mail. Rooms have mini-refrigerators, microwaves, some with kitchenettes and wet bars. The buildings have wrap-around porches and balconies.

Visitors today find echoes of our colorful past in the tranquil ambiance of the St. Francis Inn's enclosed courtyard, at the entrance to our reception room. A fountained pond, fed from an artesian well at St. Augustines' historic "Oldest House", is surrounded by lush banana trees, bougainvillea and other tropical flowers.
